Inferno (Robert Langdon #4)

Last week, after a lot of romance a paranormal book, I started to read something different.  Dan Brown always had a place in my heart. His books are different, and like everybody else I love conspiracy too.

The main character just as in his other books (Angels & Demons, The DaVinci code) is Robert Langdon. He is an expert for symbolism. There is not much  can tell you about the book without revealing some important events and ruin you the storyline. The whole book is constructed around Dante's Inferno. After he wakes up in a hospital he doesn't remember nothing from the previous couple of days. Robert and the nurse from the hospital where he woke up, are trying to escape their pursuers, and doing their best to recover Roberts memories. As we continue to read the story, we are about to find out what happened with Robert and why, just as Robert is discovering those events...again. As always the end of the book is completely unexpected, although after reading a couple of Dan Browns books, you can expect that the person behind everything is never going to be the one you are suspecting.

The whole concept of the book, the story, the events are so real, so current, that in the end the book leaves you asking yourself some serious questions: Is it possible? Can it really happen? What if it already happened? ...

That's all for the story. Now for our characters:

Robert Langdon

He is what we call nowadays a genius. He is an average looking man who always wears tweed jacket, like a true Englishman. But it's not the outside what is important in case of Robert, it's the brain. He is talented with a photographic memory. Read and learned a lot of things about symbolism and his mind is working on 200% all the time. He can put together 2+2 faster than you can say "A". Just like other geniuses, he also has some phobias. For example he is afraid of heights and small places, like an elevator. Also he hates to travel on a plane (especially if it's without windows).

Like in all Brown book there is always a women. Now it is the sweet nurse:

Dr. Sienna Brooks

She helps Robert to escape from the hospital, hides him in her apartment and helps him to figure out what is this whole mess about. Like Robert is a prodigy, who went through a lot as a child. She is an expert in medicine.

Dr. Elizabeth Sinskey

Is another woman in the book who is related to Langdon in some way. She is the director-general of the WHO.

There is movie based on the book. A film adaptation that was released on October 14, 2016, with Ron Howard as director, David Koepp adapting the screenplay and Tom Hanks reprising his role as Robert Langdon. On December 2, 2014, Felicity Jones was set to star in the film as Sienna Brooks. Indian actor Irrfan Khan was cast as The Provost. Danish actress Sidse Babett Knudsen was added to the cast as Elizabeth Sinskey. You can watch the trailer on youtube:

Also you can add it to your To-read list on Goodreads:

And finally as always, how I imagine the characters:
